Recipe for Hot Beef Sandwiches au Jus

Ingredients

  • 1 - 4 to 5 lb beef rump roast
  • 1 - 1 oz dry onion soup mix
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano leaves
  • 2 - 10.5 oz cans of condensed beef broth
  • 1 - 12 oz can of beer
  • 2 garlic cloves finely chopped
  • 10 crusty French rolls, split or mashed potatoes

Instructions

  1. Place beef roast in 3 1/2 to 4 qt. slow cooker. In medium bowl, combine all remaining ingredients except rolls; mix well. Pour over roast.
  2. Cover; cook on high setting for 4 hours or until beef is very tender.
  3. Shred beef and serve on rolls with sauce for dipping or use on mashed potatoes.

I usually cook it on medium high for 6 hours and have my crock pot "hold" it warm if I'm going to be at work or gone to most of the day.
